Professor Curtis was born in Seattle and grew
up in Missoula, Montana, where he gets back to as much as he
can. He was once briefly a practicing attorney in Denver, Colorado,
specializing in corporate and real estate law. In law school, however, much to
his own surprise, he became extremely interested in political and legal
philosophy, and this led him to pursue a career in academia. He enjoys skiing,
tennis, soccer, hiking and camping, and British literature. Favorite sports
teams include: the Montana Grizzlies in college football, the Duke Blue Devils
in college basketball, the Oakland Raiders (which has been painful in recent
years), and, of course, the Portland Pilots.
